WINKLEIGH Fair Committee will be holding its Christmas lights switch on next month.

Everyone is welcome to come along to the event where there will be plenty of stalls selling local produce and crafts, as well as soup, mince-pies, mulled wine and cider punch to keep visitors warm.

Children from Winkleigh Pre-School and Primary School will be in the village square singing carols around the Christmas tree.

The event will be held on Sunday, December 6, in the square.

There will also be a Christmas Market in the square from 3.30pm.

The Christmas lights will be switched on at 4.30pm and Father Christmas will arrive at around 5pm and will hand out sweets to the children.

Anyone who lives in the village can join in the Christmas decorations competition.

Prizes will be given for the Best Decorated Christmas Window, Best Decorated Christmas House and the Best Decorated Christmas Street.

There is also a new category this year – Best Home-made Father Christmas. Entrants need to place him outside their house.

Judging for all categories will be held on Saturday, December 5.
