IT'S time to get the rubber ducks out as this year's Okehampton Rotary Club May Fair approaches.

The event starts on Sunday, May 3 at 11am in Simmons Park and will welcome the town mayor, Cllr Kay Bickley, who will open the fair at midday.

The Rotary Club duck race will take place at the River Okement, which will see 600 rubber ducks in the water at 2pm.

Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy the candy floss, hot dogs, ice-cream, tea and soft drinks.

There will also be fairground rides, skittles, a car boot and trade sale and charity stalls.

Car boots and trades are welcome and will cost £5 and £6 each.

Fair organiser Rotarian Bob Horsley said: 'We tell all stallholders and car boot people they can start setting up from 9.30am and with everything organised, all we need is the sun to shine.'

In keeping with a traditional English fair, the Okehampton Excelsior Silver Band will also be playing in the bandstand.

This year there will be an additional attraction of a companion dog show for pedigree and fun classes.

All profits of the fair will go to Okehampton Rotary charities.

Entry costs £1. For more information phone 01837 52103 or 01647 24316.
