FOLLOWING the first Okehampton Festival of Food, Folk and Cream Teas, I would like to pass our sincere thanks to so many people who helped make the day such a wonderful success:

Firstly, to Ruth Maile whose original idea it was, and to Wren Music, whose music resounded throughout the town all day, to the White Hart Hotel, whose chef Lewis entertained the people all afternoon, and to the rest of their staff.

In no particular order, I would like to thank the following: Telecare Electric, JS Diner, Okehampton WI, BBC Radio Devon, Okehampton College, OCRA, Okehampton Excelsior Silver Band, Miss Mandy Footsteps Dance, Steve Bolt and the Co-op.

On the success of this year, we are already looking forward to Okehampton Festival next year and are looking at perhaps having a winter festival.

Okehampton and District Chamber of Trade

WHAT a wonderful day the food and folk festival in Okehampton was. The sun shone, the people came, the shops were busy and an eclectic range of stalls to intrigue and entice all. Well done, the chamber of trade!

Thanks too, to the Wren choirs and Yr3 Okehampton Primary who sang and the folk orchestra musicians who played most of the day!

It reminded me of the earlier summer festival that Okehampton had for several years, with music and dancing in the streets.

What a difference a bit of sunshine makes!
