Chagford 2

FOLLOWING a home defeat by University just three weeks ago Chagford continued their recent useful run by taking a point off the students at Duckes Meadow.

The visitors went behind early on, when Botham's error allowed a cross to elude him and Spaniol scrambed the ball home. Chagford wasted no time in picking themselves up and, with their wingmen carrying the ball well, they were to soon equalise. Oscar Emanuel made progress down his flank and a driven cross was diverted into the University net by one of their own players. This stroke of good fortune fired up Chagford and they took the lead when man of the match Steve Kinsey set up Andrew Davis, to fire home.

University refused to lie down though and were rewarded a minute before the break when Langley eventually scored, after Wright had blocked two of his efforts on the line.

The second half yielded no more goals but it wasn't through lack of trying, on Chagford's part. Scott and Kinsey missed chances when well placed, Mortimer hit a post with a firm strike, Davis only able to fire the rebound straight at University's 'keeper.

Chagford ended on top but eventually had to settle for the point.

n Chagford entertain bottom club Elmore this weekend, kick-off 2.15pm.

Awliscombe Utd 1

Chagford Reserves 3

CHAGFORD Reserves inflicted a first league defeat on high-flying Awliscombe and, in doing so won their first points since the opening day.

The visitors swept into a two goal lead, thanks to Gavin Forsey and Jerome Whatley. Both players have been recovering from long-term injuries and their returns will be a welcome relief for the club.

Although Awliscombe pulled a goal back there was to be no chance of losing this game in the first half, as has been the case in recent matches.

The second half again ran to Chagford's benefit and, when Rob Thorn crashed home a powerful header, there was to be no looking back for the visitors, no recovery for the hosts.
