CENTRAL Devon MP Mel Stride recently took time to visit some of the voluntary organisations based in Okehampton.

Mr Stride met with Marilyn Tucker from Wren Music and Andy Aiano from North Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team.

Mr Stride said: 'It was really good to spend time with both these groups.

'Wren Music is keeping a vital part of our history and culture alive through the performance of traditional English folk music.

'A stark reminder of the vital work carried out by North Dartmoor Rescue was powerfully provided by the fact that the service was out searching for a missing woman at the time of my visit. Thankfully she was found.'

He also visited the West Devon Community and Voluntary Services office on East Street to talk to Karen Nolan about the valuable support they provide to a range of charities and voluntary groups in the area. Mr Stride was joined at all three meetings by town councillor Kevin Ball, who is involved with North Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team.
