CENTRAL Devon MP Mel Stride has urged the Government to stick to its long-term economic plan of controlling spending to eliminate the deficit and balance the books.

Speaking during Prime Minister's Questions, Mr Stride pointed to the recent drop in inflation and the 25% drop in unemployment in his Central Devon constituency as proof that the Government's economic plan was working.

Mr Stride said: 'Unemployment is down, the number of young people claiming Job Seeker's Allowance has fallen for 20 consecutive months and inflation has dropped to its lowest level in four years, which will help boost living standards.

'Our plan is working and the Coalition needs to stick to it.'
