AN INNOVATIVE product designed in Okehampton has attracted the attention of Central Devon MP Mel Stride, who paid a visit to their workshop to find out more.
Mr Stride visited AGB Services, based at the Fatherford Farm Industrial Estate, to view a new product being designed by the company.
The Rotabench is a rotating work bench designed by Alan Andrew.
The project has been designed to make life easier in the workplace for people with disabilities or other stability problems.
Alan originally designed and manufactured a prototype to be used in his own workshop when he found there was nothing on the market to fit his needs.
After a visit from a colleague, he spoke to BIP at Okehampton Business Centre, who put him in touch with Manufacturing Advice Service.
Thirteen months later, Alan is in a position to launch the product through a UK distributor. Accompanied by a grant from MAS, Alan will take the product to market along with a website full of instructional videos on how to use the Rotabench device.
Mr Stride said: 'I'm pleased to see new ideas coming out of Central Devon and wish Alan all the best with his new project.'
AGB Services was formed in 2010, originally dealing exclusively with garden machinery sales and repairs.
They have now branched out into the engineering field. Working in conjunction with Jointing Systems Ltd, also based in Okehampton, AGB is hoping to create some local employment and introduce a number of apprenticeship programmes supported by local colleges.
