LIFTON Farm Shop has won first prize for its large white tin loaf at the Western Bakery Championships.

A spokesperson for the farm shop said: ‘We all feel very proud of our bakery team for winning this award. Other awards included our very own chia loaf, gluten free loaf, specialised pasty and a decorated battenburg cake.

‘Our bakery has centre stage in our bustling farm shop and the team are baking for all to see — this creates a fantastic aroma.’

The shop’s bread is cooked from scratch each day using Mathews’ English flour and they turn out specialist loaves as well as plain white. The shop also bakes saffron cake, bread pudding and Chelsea buns.
