TORRIDGE'S Community Action Through Sport (CATS) scheme is looking for nominations of young people who volunteer and spend their free time to help others.
Anyone aged between five and 19-years-old is eligible for nomination if they give up their time volunteering in any field, whether it is helping out at an old people's home, picking up litter or setting up a youth club.
CATS recognises young people within the Torridge District who have given up their time to benefit others with sports or healthy living rewards.
The Torridge CATS branch consists of representatives from a wide array of specialist areas like schools, the police, the district council, youth groups and more.
It is the role of the branch to select the top nominations worthy of recognition across five different categories and reward them accordingly depending on the level of volunteers undertaken.
Cllr Jane Whittaker, Torridge's lead member for communities, said: 'Young people today can often get a bad press, but I think the success of the CATS awards just proves that there is so much positivity in our youngsters, and endless potential.'
The winners will be selected by the panel and presented with an award at a ceremony in June.
