IT'S onwards and upwards for one West Devon pre-school, which received a glowing Ofsted report last month.

Rainbow Pre-School, which is based in Okehampton, is run by a voluntary parents' committee who all hold appropriate childcare qualifications.

The pre-school is due to move to a new setting at Okehampton College in September. The move will offer children access to a bright and airy room, with large outside area and easy access to the park.

Ofsted Inspector, Linda Daw, said the children make very good progress across all areas of their learning and development.

She said: 'They are enthusiastic, happy and secure in the care of the staff team who provide a wide range of purposeful activities for them.

'A particular strength of the setting is their dedication and commitment to providing a fully inclusive provision where all children have their individual needs fully met.'

She said parents were invited to be fully involved in all aspects of their child's care and the pre-school was highly committed to working with parents.

She said: 'They have established effective ways of doing this by having regular parents evenings, one-to-one meetings and through written communications.

'The pre-school also works closely with other providers of childcare such as local nurseries and childminders.'

Chairman of Rainbow Pre-School, Kelly Hoggins, said: 'I couldn't have asked for a better report.

'Hopefully when we have our new premises, with a few tweaks here and there we will get an outstanding report.

'It will be fantastic when we move to the college.

'They are re-building the toilets for us and they are also giving us office and storage space.

'It will make huge a difference to the services we can offer and also enable us to compete alongside the private sector.

'The move will benefit staff too because it will be an improved working environment.'
