FIFTEEN Okehampton Running Club members went to Newton Abbot this weekend to compete in the Dartmoor Vale 10k, half marathon or marathon.
In the 10k Neil Barkell was the first club member in, achieving a time of 36.56 and finishing fifth overall. A further six club members finished in great times: J P Quertier 42.26, Matt Bates 46.56, Katy Speake 54.48, Dennis Thorpe 56.43, Cathy Carey 65.23and Jeanette Collett 66.52.
In the half marathon Andy Vallance was first club runner home in 1.22.45 but the outstanding performances came from Joanne Daniels who knocked six minutes off her personal best to finish in 1.36.45 and was first vet 40, and Darren Duffy who finished in a time of 1.43.37 knocking 12 minutes off his PB. Other club members to finish include: Bryan Friend 1.30.57, Dave Mugliston 1.32.59, Chris Aylen 1.53.15 and Deborah Cunningham 1.54.17.
In the marathon Roger Voaden was the only club runner in the race finishing tenth overall in 3.10.01, also securing a third in the Devon Championship.
