TWENTY one teams in four groups arrived to play rugby at Brixham for the U9s county rugby festival.

Okehampton played Tavistock a tough opening match but it was the Okes who won when a quick offload from Daniel Turney allowed Nathan Tomkins to push over the Tavistock line.

In their second game against Plymstock Okehampton suffered from a lapse of concentration and a quick pick up by Plymstock led to them scoring.

In their final pool match the Okes played well from the whistle with some great tackling by both Daniel Turney and George Dickinson. Tries were by Nathan Tomkins and Dai Chi Budiman. There was good support play from Gareth Crome at scum half and Will Risdon, while Will gained vital territory for his side.

In the semi finals of the plate they faced Paignton, again a side they had not beaten during the season.

Paignton were the stronger side and managed a one try win in the first half.

Kai Middleton showed his terrier like qualities in tackling and the rucks with back up play from Alex Farmer, Bradley Simmons and Lewis Reynolds.

Okehampton coach Wayne Middleton, said: 'I am so proud of the boys today and of the progress all of the team this season. I am looking forward to next season and seeing them get even better.'

The parents and all the supporters thank Wayne for all of his time and dedication to the team, as well as Trevor and Richard for assisting him.
