A DETERMINED fundraiser from Inwardleigh has visited all 92 football league grounds around England and Wales — on his bicycle.
Peter Cooper completed the 'Cycling the 92' challenge on Saturday alongside his university friend David Clarke.
The pair have pedalled around 2,500 miles over five weeks to raise money and awareness for Edgar's Gift, a charity which provides support for young adults between the ages of 18 and 30 who are suffering from cancer.
On the trip, they visited all 92 football league grounds, aiming to visit each of them quicker than anyone else before.
The challenge concluded at Old Trafford, the home of the reigning Premier League champions Manchester United at 4pm on Saturday. By an amazing coincidence, moments after Peter and David reached Old Trafford, a group from Okehampton Argyle under 16s arrived to visit the ground on their own tour.
Peter and David were given a complimentary tour of Old Trafford and were allowed to hold the Premier League Trophy. The club gave them each a photo with the trophy as a memento and they also provided memorabilia for the charity auction for Edgar's Gift to be held later this year.
Along the way, the boys have created a lot of publicity for the charity. Sky Sports News were present at the start of their journey at Northampton Town, where they were interviewed by presenter Hayley McQueen. They also appeared on East Midlands TV, Shropshire Radio, Radio Wales, Radio Devon, Cumbria Radio and Radio Newcastle.
Edgar's Gift was set up in memory of David's step-brother Ben Edkins, who died aged 25 after a year-long battle with rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of muscle cancer.
In preparation for their challenge, Peter and David have set up a cycling club at Bournemouth University.
Peter, David and the fundraising team have expressed thanks to Blackacre Farm Eggs of Somerset for their wonderful support, sponsoring the cost of the team's support vehicle and sending a team to join the lads from Yeovil to Plymouth.
They also thanked Hatherleigh Primary School, NFH Mutual Halwill, O2, Maximuscle and Kinetica for all their support.
