RUNNERS and walkers enjoyed a brief moment of weekend sunshine on Sunday as they took part in the Ruby Run half marathon. This year's run started bright and early in Holsworthy, with runners making their way along the 13-mile route to Hatherleigh. This year's event raised money for the Exeter Leukaemia Fund. The charity supports the work of the Haematology Centre at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital. Since its creation in 1987, over £4.5-million has been raised to improve lives and cancer treatment in Devon. The charity funded 63% of the Royal Devon and Exeter Haematology Centre, which cost £2.4-million and opened in 2003.
