Okehampton Men's 1sts 3
Tavistock Men's 1sts 0
OKEHAMPTON hosted their local rivals in a game which on paper edged Tavistock's way. However the hosts, who have had an excellent pre-season so far, looked in complete control from start to finish. Dominant at the back the home side rarely looked troubled and the midfield looked full of energy and creativity.
Both sides saw a lot of ball time without really creating a big scoring opportunity, the deadlock finally being broken when Rob Hall dragged flick a short corner past the stranded goalkeeper.
The hosts never really looked in any danger and saw the game through to half tme with relative ease, Andy Harvey having only one save to make the entire game.
Okehampton kicked on after half time and saw their eye for goal be the difference maker, Mark Parsons smashing home their second short corner.
The game was confirmed with fifteen minutes left when a third short corner was dispatched into the goal, Parsons again applying the finish after good link up with Hall. Luke Liversidge, John Jarvis, Sam Spry and Martin Jones looked comfortable with anything Tavistock had to throw at them and Luke Miller's protection of the defence was first class. Okehampton had chances to get more and the Tavistock keeper made a good double save to deny first Joff Stephens and then Josh Speak.
All in all another sensational performance from the underdogs who are looking good with the season just one week away.
Next week they host ISCA Seconds in the last friendly.
Man of the match: Luke Miller.
