A PENSIONER has praised four kind ladies who came to her rescue last week after she fell over in a supermarket car park in Okehampton.
Elizabeth Simmons said there was a lot of blood when she tripped over a raised island in the Co-op car park and cut her hands and grazed her face.
‘I had been out walking on Dartmoor near the ring road above the army camp and thought I would pop in the Co-op to get some milk and a few other bits on my way home,’ she said.
‘I parked up near the raised area in the car park and got my ticket. I don’t think I was concentrating on the road when I caught my toe on the raised area and fell onto the gravel. Three ladies immediately came over to help me and put a plaster on one of the cuts.
‘They were ever so kind and mopped me up — there was blood all over the parking ticket and on the ground. Then one of the checkout ladies came out and gave me some first aid. She cleaned me up and put some plasters on the other cuts and then helped me to do my shopping.
‘I was fine but I looked a mess, l still do, like I have done ten rounds with Mike Tyson! Since my knee op I find it difficult to get up if I am floored but I would have got up eventually. I just want to say a big thank you to the ladies who helped me. It was quite an experience.’
