I AM a widow, living on benefits with my child because I have been unable to find a job for over two years because of some health issues. It's a struggle each month, but I manage to keep the wolf from the door, (despite the overdraft going up and down), pay my mortgage, and pay the minimum plus a bit more on the credit card.

Hundreds of people in Okehampton have just lost their jobs through no fault of their own.  I know just how they feel.  But they hadn't been paid for a couple of weeks, and it'll be a little while before they get their benefits sorted, and even then they'll struggle.

I heard on the news that the Okehampton Food Bank has run out due to demand. So, this week, instead of paying the minimum and a bit more on my credit card, I have used the 'bit more' to fill my car boot with tins and packets for the Food Bank.  If I can do it . . . why haven't you?  Charity begins at home, in your home town, where people you know need help.
