CHILDREN living in Bridestowe have some new play equipment to enjoy after its grand unveiling last week.

Around £25,000 has been raised for the village's play park to provide new play equipment, including a see-saw, nest swing and springer. The new equipment caters for all age ranges, from the very young to those in their teens.

Fundraising for the project has taken just eleven months, with grants from Devon County Council, West Devon Borough Council, Bridestowe Parish Council, Bridestowe Commoners, Manor House Hotel, Bakers Building, the National Lottery's Awards for All fund, and local fundraising all helping to reach the total.

Caroline Mott, fundraiser for the equipment, said: 'I have already had a lot of people say to me how it is really nice to see children in the park using the new equipment.

'The village youngsters tended not to go into the play park before, but now it is acting as a meeting place and a social place to go and play.

'The fact the equipment caters for a broad range of ages means we have a real mix in the park, which is also great to see. For some of the equipment we have had smaller children queuing up to use it,.

'It is great to see that they are so keen to be outside and to

use it.'
