A VIBRANT day of balloon tennis, dancing and more took place on June 2 for adults with learning disabilities. The event, one of four thrown each year, was organised by Puzzletree in Okehampton and a variety of other partnering groups, including OCRA. The fun day was free to attend, and included a variety of sports to encourage people to try new activities, as well as those they already enjoy. Boccia, seated exercise and table tennis were among the activities on offer. All the games played are achievable for people who are wheelchair dependent. Research in 2012 showed that participation in sports by people with disabilities, which is already below that of people without disabilities, is declining.
