POLICE are appealing for information about a series of incidents that have taken place recently.
In Okehampton town centre a commercial garage was targeted by burglars, overnight on Saturday and Sunday April 10/11. The thieves forced open part of a door but appear to have been frightened off by a burglar alarm. There was nothing of value on the premises but police urge owners of all commercial buildings in the town to check their security. If anyone has any information regarding this incident, contact the police, quoting crime reference number JT/10/265.
In another incident, stone walls were damaged in Simmons Park, Okehampton. Police have recorded this as criminal damage. Large stones have been pulled out of the dry stone wall and rolled down a steep bank. Both the council and the police urge whoever is causing the damage to stop, warning that criminal proceedings will ensue if it continues. The crime reference number is JT/10/253.
Police believe there is a thief in Hatherleigh after a leather 'Billabong' wallet was stolen from the bar of the Bridge Inn on Friday April 9, between 10.30pm and midnight. The same night, at around 11pm, a handbag was taken from a seat in Hatherleigh Community Centre. In both cases lots of personal documents were stolen. A Nokia Express music mobile phone and a black Lumix CZ3 digital camera were among other items taken.
Officers would like to speak to anyone who was in the Bridge Inn and Hatherleigh Community Centre that night. Crime reference numbers JT/10/258 and 260.
