OKEHAMPTON U3A will be welcoming three prospective parliamentary candidates and a serving MEP to a political debate and question session at their next meeting this month.

The guests include Liberal Democrat Sally Morgan, Conservative Mel Stride and Labour's Darren Jones, who are all standing for election.

The meeting will also welcome UKIP representative of the South West in Europe, Trevor Colman.  

U3A Chairman Eunice Goodwin said: 'We wanted to give our members a real opportunity to meet and question the people who expect to represent us.

'Respect for MPs is at an all-time low, so the electorate needs to be convinced of candidates credibility before they cast their vote.'

The meeting is open to everyone and will be held at the Ockment Centre on Thursday, July 30 at 2.30pm.
