SCHOOLCHILDREN in Okehampton will help the town council design promotional material for the outdoor spaces around the town.
The proposal is part of Okehampton Town Council's updated five-year performance plan for Simmons Park and Kempley Meadows.
The document suggests better promotion for the park, using colourful brochures and informational boards. Okehampton College and Primary School will be involved in the design of these boards, which will detail interesting flora, fauna and animals in the park.
Hazel Fox, Okehampton Primary School headteacher, said: 'As a school we're very committed to environmental and community issues, alongside the college, so this is right up our street. Also, the more children get involved in the local area, the more they will value the facilities we have in the town.'
All areas of the park's upkeep and development are detailed in the plan, including care of trees and flowerbeds, maintenance and cleaning of paths and benches, and litter disposal.
