RURAL crime will be highlighted at a public meeting with the Police and Crime Commissioner next month in Hatherleigh.
The commissioner Tony Hogg will be joined by Chief Constable Shaun Sawyer for the lunchtime event in the Hatherleigh Community Centre on Friday, November 7 at 12.30pm.
It is anticipated that many local residents will make up the audience for the 'Question Time' style event, which will also be broadcast live on the Bill Buckley programme on BBC Radio Devon.
Although rural issues will top the agenda, audience members, or those listening on the radio, can raise any subjects they wish with Mr Hogg or the Chief Constable.
Twitter followers will also be able to use #hotseatlive to get involved in the debate and contribute to the programme.
As usual, the questions will be submitted to BBC producers who will retain editorial independence throughout the broadcast.
Mr Hogg said: 'If the previous events are anything to go by, there will be much lively debate.
'I welcome that, because my role is all about providing a real link between the public and policing.
'There's no better way to do that than for me and the Chief Constable to go into the heart of our communities and engage directly with local residents about the issues that really matter to them.'
This is not a ticketed event.
