A BEER festival held in Hatherleigh last weekend proved so successful there are hopes it could become an annual event.

The festival, which was held on Saturday at Hatherleigh's new community centre, was organised to raise money for Hatherleigh play area.

Play area committee member Gary Bush said funds raised by the festival would help buy more equipment — a zip wire is currently being installed at the facility, thanks to fundraising by the committee.

'Most people enjoyed the festival and it was a good evening,' said Gary, who said he would like to see the beer festival become an annual event in Hatherleigh's calendar.
