A NUMBER of Hatherleigh residents are organising a meeting to discuss the future of the livestock market, following the town council's meeting last week.
More than 60 people went to the meeting on August 9 to hear the latest news on plans to redevelop the market site.
Site developer LHC revealed it is still processing the feedback from over 300 Hatherleigh residents it received at the public consultation event held on July 14.
Cindy Squire, who spoke to the council at the meeting, said: 'Since that meeting, a group of people in attendance have decided to hold their own meeting and discuss the situation as it stands.
'We want to invite not only Hatherleigh residents but those from the surrounding villages and communities who also want to talk about how we may be able to preserve the livestock market.
'The town council have been in touch with us since their meeting and have been very co-operative, and want to hear from us about our opinions on the market.'
The meeting takes place on Wednesday August 24 at the Vine Church from 7.30pm. Anyone who would like to share their views on the market is welcome to attend.
