WORK to repair stretches of the A30 that were damaged by the harsh winter weather will begin at the end of June, according to the Highways Agency.
The extreme weather throughout December affected the stretch of road between Okehampton and Exeter so badly that the road has been breaking up, and sinking in places.
The rolling repair programme the agency is undertaking has meant repairs could not begin earlier.
Temporary patches have been put in place, but permanent repairs are needed.
The timing of the repairs will clash with one of the busiest times of the year for the road, as tourists from around the country use the A30 as one of the main routes into the county.
