South Zeal Utd 2
Offwell Rangers 3
SOUTH Zeal had not played for three weeks and it showed on Saturday as they struggled to get the better of a mobile Offwell side.
Zeal took the lead after 15 minutes when Thomas Boother beat two defenders down the left and hit a great shot onto the post which came out to Phil Evans, who had an easy finish from close range.
It looked as if the home side would dominate, but after going close on several occasions to extend their lead, they then allowed Offwell to equalise when several missed attempts at clearing their lines resulted in the equaliser,
South Zeal went 2-1 up when Darren Prouse netted after a period of pressure but Offwell were soon back on terms when a good move through the middle saw one of their strikers finish well from close range.
For the first period of the second half Offwell played well and went 3-2 up when they converted a very good free kick from just outside the penalty area.
Zeal re-organised and dominated the final 20 minutes, but chance after chance was missed as the final shot or pass never found its target.
n South Zeal's next game is on January 3 away to Chard Town, kick-off 2.15 pm.
