THE bright spring weather shone down on the Chagfood open day as members of the agricultural group welcomed residents of the local community to celebrate the scheme's first anniversary.

Ed Hamer, one of Chagfood's growers, said: 'The open day went extremely well. We had good weather all day, even though it started off a bit cloudy!

'We were lucky to have a great turnout too — we had upwards of fifty people come to the event, the majority of whom were new to the scheme.

'We signed up five new members, and received great interest from others in the community.'

Children could have a horse and cart ride with the group's horse Samson.

The rides highlighted how traditional agricultural methods can help to cut carbon emissions.

Other activities for children, including Easter egg hunts, the planting of sunflower seeds, egg-and-spoon and three-legged races, and face-painting ensured everyone had an extremely fun day.
