REGULAR at the Tom Cobley Tavern in?Spreyton, Rebecca Murphy, was coerced into a sponsored silence in the pub after earning herself a bit of a reputation amongst her fellow drinkers for being a chatterbox! Rebecca, who completed one hour of silence for two weeks, said it was very difficult and a lot harder than she thought it would be and had to communicate using a pad and pen. Landlord Roger Cudlip said: 'It was certainly a lot quieter for two weeks' and instigators Andrew Wood, Dave Halsey and Jimmy Spratford claimed that Rebecca had 'made up for lost time' since completing her silence. The sponsored silence raised £650 for Cancer Research.
