RESIDENTS in the Torridge district in extreme financial need can apply for short-term emergency help from the district council.
Torridge District Council has set up the Exceptional Hardship Fund (EHF) to help cover a shortfall between council tax liability and payments of council tax support.
Torridge has also implemented a Discretionary Housing Payments scheme which could cover some or all of the shortfall between rent and housing benefit. Similar principles in respect of the EHF apply.
Payments from these funds are discretionary and depend on the circumstances of the person applying.
There is no statutory right to an award.
