MARIE Curie Cancer will be dropping in on Dartmoor as it hosts an abseil as part of its 2013 events season.
The abseil will take place at the Meldon Viaduct on March 24 2013 — be the first to take on this new abseil from the Victorian wrought and cast iron structure, 120ft over the wooded valley below.
Secretary of the Marie Curie Devon fundraising group Sue Adams, helped to launch the event.
She said: 'The abseil is a must for anyone who enjoys an adrenaline rush. The hardest part of the abseil was the climb out to the middle of the viaduct. I felt quite nervous climbing out and going over the edge with just a harness on.
'I have done an abseil before, but with a building under my feet, and this was scarier.
'Once I was free of the viaduct the view was fantastic and the abseil was good fun, before I knew it I was at the bottom. I would definitely do it again. I feel lucky that I have been able to take part in something exciting while helping such a good cause.'
Places on the abseil are limited. For an information pack call 01884 703536 or email [email protected]">[email protected]
