MANY thanks, Donald Bibey for your letter to the Okehampton Times editorial, mentioning our 'Emmanuel' sign.
You spurred us on to get it up again — we nearly didn't, because my husband Bob had a very difficult time last year getting it down!
But here it is, shining out the reminder that 'Emmanuel' is the name that Matthew the Gospel-writer tells us was prophesied for this special person: 'Matt 1:23, A Virgin will become pregnant and have a son and he will be called Emmanuel, which means 'God is with us'.
Wow! Not 'God is with me', not 'God is with ( . . . any particular type of person — or church go-er
. . . ), but, God is with us!!
Wow, again! A whole newspaper could be filled with all that can emerge from that phrase.
Back to our humble little sign —we do hope to keep it refreshed year by year.
Any help next year, particularly by adding a star or an angel, would be really welcome.
All the best Emmanuel, through 2010.
Whether or not you see our sign 'Emmanuel' is eternally true. Spread the news! Thank you.
