IT was all green for one West Devon school as it celebrated Sustainability Week with the official opening of its new solar panels.

The solar panels, which cost around £32,000, will help South Tawton Primary School become more energy-efficient.

Funding for the panels came from the Low Carbon Building Project, Dartmoor National Park, the Green Challenge Fund and Sticklepath and Belstone Trust.

The school also contributed money towards the panels.

Children also took part in a range of workshops to raise the profile of sustainability, recycling and their responsibility to look after their local, as well as global environment.

They included pupils from Year 3, who made a wee junk man out of materials brought in from home that would normally have been thrown away.

Parents were also invited to visit each classroom to see what the children were involved in.
