TWO drama students have come in the top ten out of thousands of students worldwide.

Scott Wilson and Misha Vertkin, both 16, achieved full marks in their GCSE.

The two drama students, who studied at Okehampton College, were ecstatic after coming in the top ten out of 60,878 students for the Edexcel GCSE course.

Scott said: 'It was a big surprise but felt really good to be ranked that highly in the world.

'I'm doing English Literature, Classics and Philosophy at Exeter College now but will see what's happening on the drama scene in the future.'

Misha Vertkin, who shot his first feature length film over the summer, is also studying at Exeter College. He said: 'Drama is the only subject that I am really into, so it was great to do so well.'

The film, Vera City, will be screened at the Picture House in Exeter in the new year.

Okehampton College head of drama Sue Hester-Green said: 'We are very pleased with the GCSE, As and A Level results this year, particularly with two of our students, Misha Vertkin and Scott Wilson, coming in the top ten out of nearly 61,000 students taking GCSE drama with Exdexcel.'

Mrs Hester-Green said the students had obtained maximum marks for every part of the course. 'Both Scott and Misha were always very talented lads, often emerging as group leaders in team work.

'Exceptionally creative, they demonstrated a real flair for drama and motivated others with their focus and enthusiasm. They have been a pleasure to teach.'
