SHEBBEAR College Junior School pupils have been celebrating following their success in the recent North Devon Performing Arts Festival.

The speech and drama classes saw the children return to school with numerous awards, including four first places, five second places and three third places.

Robin Dalton, Olivia Rolls and Douglas Willis-Butcher were all awarded a festival medal for their efforts. Connie Gillies gave an outstanding performance in the solo drama category, winning the junior shield for her monologue.

There were further accolades for those in the instrumental classes with performances on trumpet, saxophone, flute, guitars and piano.

Archie Boycott won a festival medal and the Midland Bank Shield, and Olivia Rolls won the festival plaque for junior piano.

The school secured the Lyn Shield for the ninth year in a row singing 'Orange and Yellow and Brown' and 'The Duchess'.

Pupils were praised for the high standard of their presentation.
