THROWLEIGH Fete and Horticultural Show on Saturday was magic — literally, thanks to a performance by a magician.

The day stayed dry and sunny as more than 60 dogs competed in the four fun dog show classes. And there were 16 vintage vehicles — including tractors, motorcycles and cars, with one stationary engine.

Punch and Judy also put in an appearance at the village hall, along with ferrets, who took part in races. Stalls and sideshows kept everyone entertained.

As well as the entertainment there was the more serious side to the afternoon as entrants to the horticultural show vied for prizes and trophies in the many categories. Entries were up on last year and there were classes for vegetables, flowers, home produce, breadmaking, photography, a junior section and a decorated welly competition.

The photography section was particularly popular, with more than 30 entries on the theme of 'Winter in Throwleigh'.

The event raised funds for the village hall.
