TWO visitors brought a special gift to the latest sports and activity day organised by OCRA.
Theresa Edwards and Andrea Bolt from Waitrose visited the session last Thursday to present a cheque for £268.40 to the sports organisation, to help fund activities and provide new sports equipment.
Theresa Edwards, marketing assistant for Waitrose Okehampton said: 'As a store we have chosen OCRA as our charity of the year. Throughout the year, we will raise money internally in the store and that will go to OCRA.
'We raised this money with a raffle, trying to guess the month's sales. We also managed to pool some extra money together and donate that too.
'We expect to be fundraising again soon and hopefully raising as much as possible for OCRA.'
Sue Doidge, activities co-ordinator for OCRA, said: 'Donations like this make a huge difference to OCRA. It means that we can buy more equipment, and put on more activities for children throughout the school holidays, and make sure all our sessions are fun.
'We are extremely grateful to Waitrose for their kind support, and we cannot thank them enough.'
Thanks to OCRA, youngsters got to enjoy a busy programme of sports, arts and crafts throughout the Easter school holidays. As well as the sports and arts days, children got the chance to take part in specialist sports and craft camps including fencing, cricket and bushcraft.
The next few months will also see the formation of a new children's athletics club and the return of the after-school OCRA Action Club.
