A FORMER chief executive of Dartmoor National Park will be the speaker at the annual open meeting of South Tawton and District Local History Group.

Nick Atkinson will give a talk entitled 'Wordsworth to Widecombe — a history of Dartmoor as a National Park'. Nick worked for the authority for 33 years, spending 16 of them as its top officer.

The illustrated talk will focus on how the park developed through its first 50 years, and conclude with looking at some of the challenges facing the area in the future.

The talk takes place in the Victory Hall in South Zeal tomorrow (Friday) at 7.30pm. Admission is £2 and all are welcome.
