A HORSE had to be rescued by fire crews after getting stuck in a ditch on Saturday evening.

A specialist rescue team from Camelshead with assistance from a fire engine from Launceston responded to reports of a horse stuck in a ditch at Thorn Cross, Broadwoodwidger.

The horse was safely removed from the ditch by fire service personnel from Launceston using lines and hose, before the arrival of the specialist rescue team.
