TO expand a little further on the erroneous belief that times have changed (Letters October 6).

But have they?

Many children enjoy bible stories when they are young. Some will grow up to discover that humans never change.

The people of the bible were real people of their time. They were clever, wise, kind, ignorant, and as cruel then as we are today. They travelled the world they knew, made beautiful things, invented the written word and much else.

The Old Testament was compiled over many years BC and from many sources by the Jewish Rabbis.

The book of Leviticus established the Jewish law; other sections are about Jewish history; the loves of the prophets and their songs or psalms.

But the New Testament written AD about 200 years after the birth of Jesus, is his story, which had to be rescued from verbal mis-interpretation.

The New Testament is the true story of Christianity and provides a basis for life today.
