TORRIDGE District Council's village roadshows at Halwill Junction and Shebbear have once again proven popular. Villagers came armed with notebooks and plenty of questions to ask the team, mainly about local planning queries, council tax, council grants and recycling. Council leader Philip Collins said: 'We were not inundated with people, but those who did turn up came because they were expecting us and really wanted to take the opportunity to talk to council staff. 'They certainly appreciated us being there to talk to in person.' Cllr Barry Parsons, Halwill Junction ward member, said: 'It's a great initiative, coming out to the more rural parts of the district. 'It gives us an opportunity to listen and understand issues in village communities, as well as help local people with any issues they may have.'
