FOOTBALL fans can now book their place in the popular five-a-side football tournament at the Okehampton Sport and Fitness Festival.

The mens, ladies and veterans (35+) tournaments make their return to the main 'Sporting Sunday', where Simmons Park becomes a haven bustling with sporting activities and fun on Sunday, July 7.

Festival organisers OCRA are advising teams to enter as early as possible, with places limited. Payment and entry must be returned to OCRA by Monday, July 2.

The festival has a huge range of have-a-go sessions and competitions running from July 6 to July 14. Working with local clubs, instructors and facilities, OCRA is working hard to create a diverse programme for children, young people and adults alike.

2012 was a particularly special year for the festival. The week's activities kicked off with the Devon Games to Inspire. A prestigious event in the county sporting calendar, the games brought over 1,200 youngsters aged eight to 16 from across Devon to compete against each other and win points for their region.

School children from across the area enjoyed a week of sports thanks to the 'Primary School Olympics'. All eleven primary schools of the Okehampton Learning Community united to celebrate sport with a week of sport, art, Paralympic awareness sessions, team building and music.

If you would like to enter a team into the five-a-side competition, or you or your club would like to get involved in the festival, contact OCRA on 01837 54546 or by e-mail, [email protected]">[email protected]
