A STUDENT from Sticklepath received a major award at Exeter College's Skills for Living Celebration of Achievement evening held last Wednesday.

Jennifer Howard, 19, was one of two students to receive the Student of the Year award at the ceremony in the college's Ted Wragg Building.

Chris Petheram, the college's head of faculty, foundation studies, said: 'During her time on the course, Jennifer made incredible progress in all areas of her life. She worked incredibly hard and is the first learner on our course to ever achieve qualifications at Level 1.

'Jennifer was also the student representative, and was a fantastic advocate for her friends on the course. She thoroughly deserves her award.'

The annual celebration event, which has been running for more than 15 years, recognises the success stories and progress made by Skills For Living students for their continuing hard work throughout the college year, despite individual learning disabilities or personal difficulties.

Jennifer attended Southbrook School and is now at Oakwood Court College in Dawlish.
