A fantastic night of entertainment organised by Wren Music has received the support of Okehampton Town Council.

The council has donated £250 to the music charity to support the Okehampton Lanterns Procession, which took place in February.

The event saw a procession group led by Okehampton Excelsior Silver Band and a drumming band weave through the streets from St James' Chapel to Simmons Park.

The money donated by the council from its grant aid scheme has helped to pay for the lantern workshops and for the event to go ahead.

Marilyn Tucker, Wren Music's artistic director said: 'These days, donations like this mean we can continue to do work in Okehampton.

'There is so much pressure on to make money we have to take projects elsewhere, but support like this means we can keep as much of our work here as possible.

'If people want to see what Wren Music do, come to Okehampton and see.'
