Hatherleigh Ladies v Whitchurch Ladies

HATHERLEIGH Ladies had another good win on Sunday, this time against Whitchurch Ladies.

Being put into bat Hatherleigh struggled at the start losing four wickets for only 30 runs. Opener Catherine Williams and Kirsty Tidball steadied the ship with a disciplined display, taking the score to 70 before Tidball was caught off Kirsty Gray for 16. Williams continued to bat sensibly but eventually ran out of partners with the team being all out for 90, Williams scoring 28 not out.

With a low total to defend Hatherleigh's opening bowlers Clare Reynolds and Anna Cherrington were under pressure to bowl tightly. This they did and backed up by good fielding restricted the Whitchurch batters to four runs for two wickets off the first seven overs. Then Kirsty Tidball joined the attack and continued to keep the pressure on the Whitchurch team.

Despite some spirited fight back from Kirsty Gray (18), Candy Capeling (16) and Cathy Griffin (14) the Hatherleigh bowlers kept the pressure on and Whitchurch finished on 79 all out. Anna Cherrington taking a superb five wickets for 15 runs off her seven overs and Kirsty Tidball 4-14. Hatherleigh won the match by 11 runs.
