HATHERLEIGH Cricket Club are celebrating a very successful season.
The first team won the D division of the Devon League and are looking forward to playing in the C Division next year.
The team has been very consistent this year with only 15 club members playing for the first team.
Unlike some other clubs in the division, Hatherleigh have not had an overseas player this year and the majority of the team have progressed from the club's colts team.
All the individual players have made a valuable contribution to the season's success, with different players performing well in each match.
With a very young team, gaining from experience every year, Hatherleigh are looking forward to more success in the future.
Hatherleigh Ladies' team won the second division of the Devon Ladies' League and are looking forward to the challenge of playing in the first division next year.
With an increased amount of interest in ladies cricket, the club has increased the squad this year and have enjoyed the opportunity to develop the skills of the young players joining the team.
Hatherleigh is well represented in the Devon youth and ladies' teams and with more young players coming through all the time this should continue.
Hatherleigh also won the Buckley Cup using mainly players from the colts sections.
They won ten games with only one defeat early in the season. There were many good performances by some very young players and this has been a great opportunity for them to improve their skills against more experienced senior teams.
