I LIVE at the Beeches at Sampford Courtenay and last Monday week, after another eight inches of snow, I noticed a four-wheel drive car driving round the estate. The car contained two men and as an older person you start to get concerned.
After a few minutes they came up my road and as I was outside clearing snow they asked me if I knew the people in the road and who was vulnerable and could not get out.
I pointed them to bungalows with one occupant and they explained they had milk, bread and butter and were from the Countryman public house.
They called on the people I suggested and returned to my house and gave me milk, bread and butter. They would not take any payment. They then left.
It was not until a few minutes later I realised what a super thing to do and to do it to help the community was an unusual thing in these times.
Thank you, Countryman, for your thoughts and help.
