NORTHLEW Silver Band will again be organising the village carnival to be held on Friday November 5. Activities start with a fancy dress parade in the Victory Hall at 7.30pm for all ages and this will be followed by the traditional torchlight procession to the bonfire in the square, with the band entertaining the crowd with a musical selection of tunes old and new. Refreshments will be prepared and served from the church room.

Villagers are asked not to park their cars in the square after midnight on November 4.

The Silver Band, that will celebrate its centenary next year on June 25, is also appealing for new members — tuition is available — and a secretary, together with new committee members if anyone is willing to assist. Offers to the chairman, Martin Perry on 01409 221376.

The Christmas Concert this year will be on Monday December 20.
