FIRE CREWS received calls to a tractor on fire on Harper's Hill, Northlew at 1.20pm on Saturday, February 26.
One appliance from Hatherleigh attended the scene, and upon arrival crews confirmed a small fire which involved the brakes of the tractor. Firefighters used one hosereel jet to extinguish the fire, and an Environment Agency spill kit to prevent any oil entering a nearby watercourse.
l A TELEHANDLER was severely damaged in an agricultural fire at Meacombe near Moretonhampstead on the evening of Sunday February 27.
The fire crew from Moretonhampstead, along with a ranger from Bovey Tracey, were called just before 8pm to reports of an agricultural vehicle on fire. Upon arrival, crews found the telehandler was well alight in a field, and two breathing apparatus wearers used a hose reel jet to extinguish the blaze.
The telehandler was severely damaged, but it is thought the fire was accidental.
