FIRE crews in Okehampton were busy once more last Friday night, battling two blazes in the town.

The first was a small kitchen fire in a house on East Street.

The fire service were called at around 8.40pm and one appliance from Okehampton attended the scene.

They put out the fire on arrival, and police also attended the incident.

The second was a shed fire at Oaklands Park, the residential park full of static mobile homes off Kestrel Close.

One fire engine from Okehampton, with watch commander Donovan in charge, were sent to a report of a shed on fire received at around 11.20pm.

On arrival, the crew discovered the fire in a single storey detached building used as an office.

The crews used one hose reel to put out the fire, which severely damaged a side wall of the building.

Police are looking into what caused the fire.
